Autumn Nature Walk and Picnic at the Keep Conservation Preserve in Germantown

Sunday, November 9, 2014 - 10:00 to 13:00

Join Linda Atkins (bird expert with Keep Conservation) and Conrad and Claudia Vispo (ecologists with the Hawthorne Valley Farmscape Ecology Program) on Sunday, Nov. 9, 10am-1pm at the Keep Conservation Preserve in Germantown for a leisurely walk through the preserve as its plants and animals settle in for the winter. Meet the resident birds. Learn how to identify trees, even if their leaves have dropped. Be surprised at how many wildflowers are still recognizable late in the season. See what signs of insect life we can find in late fall. If you like, please bring a picnic lunch. We meet at 10am in the parking area off Route 8 (east of Germantown, north side of road, after the intersection with Saw Mill Road and roughly opposite Orr Road). The walk is free and there is no need to register for this event, which is co-facilitated by the Germantown Library. For information, please call Claudia Knab-Vispo at 518 672 7994.
