FEP Open House with Presentation on "Insect Song and Sound Maps"

Thursday, May 5, 2016 - 06:00 to 08:00

Please join us for a presentation on "Insect Song and Sound Maps"  by Dylan Cipkowski on Thursday, May 5, 7pm at the Creekhouse (1075 Harlemville Road).

Dylan will share some of the work he just completed, analyzing and mapping insect songs that had been recorded in the context of FEP’s orchard research throughout the Hudson Valley in 2014. Come and find out some really neat stuff about how and why insects sing! Learn how one can do a sound inventory to document who is living where in the landscape and how insect sound can be transformed into amazing maps. (The talk will be an expanded version of a well received presentation Dylan just gave at the Northeast Natural History Conference in Springfield.)
We will serve light refreshments (finger food) at 6pm, the presentation will start at 7pm.
