The Unseen Farm--A Presentation

Tuesday, January 30, 2018 - 19:00 to 20:30

Please join us for a special presentation "The Unseen Farm: The Flies, Spiders, Wasps, Beetles & Wild Flowers of Regional Farms" on Tuesday, January 30, 7pm in the Place-based Learning Center (Old Farmstore) at Hawthorne Valley Farm.

One of the core themes of the research at the Hawthorne Valley Farmscape Ecology Program is the plant and animal diversity of regional farms. What role can such farms play in nature conservation? And how does biodiversity interact with farm production?

This talk will present insights on those questions through the eyes of four different groups of invertebrates and the plants which compose their habitats. It will be co-orchestrated by the ecologists of the Program with Dylan Cipkowski on hover flies, Liam Henrie on wasps, Claudia Knab-Vispo on plants, Julia Meyer on spiders, and Conrad Vispo on ground beetles.

Please join us for an evening of fun photographs and perhaps even a few insights on the hidden ecology of farms.

We are looking forward to seeing you!
