In this final session of the Butterfly Course presented by Farmscape Ecology Program and the Columbia Land Conservancy, we will enter a private properrty that hosts an uncommon habitat--dry upland meadow. This is one of the few places in Columbia County that harbors a rare spieces of skipper butterfly that relies on dry meadows. We will get to know this habitat and, with a little luck, this special butterfly called the Leonard's Skipper. We will discuss why this habitat type has declined in our landscape and how that has impacted different plants and animals that use it. This event will require moderate hiking. Please bring water, snacks (if you'd like) and binoculars and a camera if you have them.
