Virtual Presentation by Jerry Jenkins

Thursday, March 4, 2021 - 06:30 to 08:00

On Thursday, March 4, 6:30-8pm, we will have the pleasure to host Jerry Jenkins with a presentation about his recent work on the Northern Forest Atlas Project at our virtual open house. Jerry is a dear friend and an amazing naturalist, who is working on a new generation of botanical and ecological field guides. In Jerry's own words in a recent email exchange: "The interesting thing to me about this project is that the plants and I both get to speak. In the photography I try to let the plants present themselves — clarity, neutral lighting, but no attempt to alter or interpret or make pretty. They are plenty pretty enough without me. But the words and diagrams are very much my way of looking, suggestions for what might be important, what you might see. So we both get space to talk, which I like."
The virtual presentation (through Zoom) is free but we are limiting the number of attendees for technical reasons and to allow for a reasonably "cozy" discussion, afterwards. Please contact Nellie (nostow@hawthornevalley.org) to make a reservation and receive the link to join Jerry's presentation.
