Mark your calendars for the annual Hawthorne Valley Harvest Festival! This free festival celebrates agriculture, ecology, education, art, and community and has become an autumn tradition for thousands. Be sure to stop by the Farmscape Ecology Program table to learn about insects, ancient forests, and more, and check out these FEP-coordinated happenings at the Harvest Festival:
- 11am-Noon: Guided Walk of Biodiversity Trail’s new Creekhouse Loop: Join Anna and Josie on this guided walk on the new extension of the Biodiversity Trail that will lead people around the Creekhouse native plant gardens and nursery, as well as phenology trail. Meet at the FEP tent at 11am; no reservations needed.
- 1pm Creature Parade – Please Join In!: A Siena University Environmental Ethics class has been working in collaboration with the Farmscape Ecology Program to create creature masks and speak on behalf of organisms from the Biodiversity Trail. They will be leading a “Creature Parade” at 1pm, and we invite everyone to join in! Feel free to bring your own creature masks/costumes or stop by the Siena tent (next to ours) to learn more about the project and make your own creature mask. If you’d like to join the parade, meet at the FEP tent at 12:45pm (or just join in if you see it going by).
