Twin-spotted Spiketail
Cordulegaster maculata
DESCRIPTION: This is a distinctively stocky, mostly black spiketail. It has yellow markings on the sides and shoulders of its thorax and pairs of rounded yellow dots running down its abdomen.
BEHAVIOUR/ABUNDANCE: We have only seen two of these dragonflies, although it is not endangered. It can be seen around rocky, shaded streams or patrolling along field edges.
